this seems to be a very sturdy grate. we purchased a steel one in the past and what a joke! don't waste your money. the only regret I have is I could have bought the next size up but that is my fault. it isn't that big of a deal so we decided to keep it. it is extremely heavy so be advised if you are weak in hands or arms you may have a problem removing it from the fireplace in order to clean it. great item and we hope we do not have to replace it form several years
