This DE Grid uses DE or Diatomaceous Earth powder for filtering. This diatomaceous earth is a sedimentary rock composed of chemically inert and fossilized remains of billions of microscopic algae-like organisms, called diatoms which are so fine and has the ability to absorb or filter impurities of water down to 3 - 5 microns.
